The Christchurch City Council is committed to achieving an enlivened and creative city in which the arts are widely recognised as being essential. It believes that the arts play a vital role in improving the lives of a city ’s citizens and should be encouraged for it’s social and cultural value as well as commercial potential.

Canterbury Community Trust

The Canterbury Community Trust was established in 1988 as a charitable trust, with the purpose of providing charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational benefits to the community. The Trust's priority is to channel its funds as effectively as it can for the greatest possible benefit of the community and its people.

Air Rescue and Community Services

Air Rescue Services Ltd began operating in 2003 at two venues in Christchurch with a total of 36 gaming machines. It now operates a total of 433 machines at 29 venues throughout Canterbury, the West Coast, Otago and Marlborough. Net proceeds from the operation of gaming machines at Air Rescue Services Ltd’s member venues are returned in the form of grants to charitable and community organisations in the Canterbury, West Coast and Marlborough regions. The company’s primary funding objective is to support rescue helicopter services in the Canterbury, West Coast and Marlborough regions.
