New Zealand Premiere & Theatregoers' Choice Winner: Best New Play
Rachel Corrie was born on April 10th 1979 in Olympia, Washington. She had a brother, a sister, and a really old cat named Phoebe. She was young, pure and passionate.
In 2003 Rachel joined the International Solidarity Movement in the Gaza Strip. She was killed by an Israeli military bulldozer while protecting the home of a Palestinian family.
My Name is Rachel Corrie is a onewoman play based on her diaries and e-mails - Rachel's story told in her own words. A powerful and moving testimonial by a woman who lived - and died - according to her beliefs.

Kate Prior

Reviews
"In this role, Kate Prior manages with expressive ease the transition from the humorous exuberance of her life in Olympia to the gritty understatement of its final phase, and was rewarded on the opening night by warm applause. No mere imitation of Rachel, she is convincing as a living force in a cocoon of real words." Read full Theatreview here.
"The play is brilliant. I found it engrossing, gripping, all-encompassing. The one-woman format works so well – probably better even than a full cast. While it is a monologue in the sense that virtually all the words are Rachel Corrie’s, the audience is drawn in and included on all levels. I couldn’t help but be interested in what was going to happen next, to hear what Rachel thought about the events unfolding around her, to journey with her and experience some of the moments she described so vividly" CityScape
"And in this play, which is constructed out of her diaries and emails, Corrie’s thoughts are loud, clear and unambiguous. What makes her observations so interesting is her combination of political awareness and artistic sensibility, and the strong sense of mission which seems to have been with her all her life."
