2009 in The Forge was filled with unforgettable experiences. Many an atmospheric night of cheers, tears, and laughter was had by deeply appreciative audiences. People returned a second and third time, in numbers sufficient to make 2009 the most successful year The Forge has seen. Until now...
It's 2010 and we proudly make way for five new passionate and provocative works. You'll travel to Hollywood, Afghanistan, Palmerston North and back again. You'll meet lonely carpenters, polyamorists and Alexander the Great. You'll dip your toes in a sea of woes, laugh at length and eat up these tales of tomorrow as you absorb a feast of stories from five outstanding New Zealand playwrights.
We salute Duncan Sarkies, Richard Huber, Dean Parker, Caroline Lark and Carl Nixon. Three world premieres, five dynamic pieces of contemporary work and a year of top-class entertainment.
Plus for the first time with a 2010 Forge Ahead subscription, we are offering another world premiere in Court One by one of New Zealand's most talented writers: Don't Mention Casablanca by Michelanne Forster.
Complementing the season is the spontaneous comic genius of The Court Jesters with Off The Map (fresh from the 2009 Improv Festival) and the ever-popular A Very Merry Scriptless.
It's going to be a bigger year than ever in The Forge so keep checking our website www.theforge.org.nz for updates on: - Fresh Ink (Rehearsed Play Readings) - Young Playwrights' Initiative - 30-Under Club Offers - Backstage Forums - Classes - Open Auditions and more...
All of us here in The Forge thank you so much for your continued support. We look forward to sharing another year of unforgettable experiences with you.
