What is The Court TheatreWorks?

The Court TheatreWorks is an exciting new theatre-craft training programme that was launched in 2003. TheatreWorks is designed as a one-year, part-time, professional training programme for young actors 18-30 years of age.

Who is it designed for?

The Court TheatreWorks is ideal for:

  • The young actor who is not yet ready for a full-time tertiary training institution.
  • The serious non-professional practitioner wanting to up-skill.
  • The young actor who is ready to test themselves in a professional environment.

How is it structured?

The course will run during each of the four school terms, for eight weeks each term, meeting for one 3-hour session per week. All class sessions will take place at The Court Theatre in the Studio Rehearsal Room. Additional out of class time will be required for preparation. The core tutor is Bryan Aitken, with other professional performers, directors and practitioners taking some workshops/modules during the year.

The course will culminate in an end of year production, to be presented in The Forge in early December, giving students an opportunity to apply their new skills in performance.

TERMS 2010

Term 1: 13 February - 27 March
Term 2: 17 April - 26 June
Term 3: 24 July - 18 September
Term 4: 16 October - 4 December INCLUDING an end-of-year performance in The Forge

Important Note: TheatreWorks is a YEAR-LONG commitment. You are expected to give workshops your top priority. If you are unable to attend a class it is expected that you will contact the Core Tutor and/or the Education Manager to inform them BEFORE the day of the workshop (or as soon as possible in the case of illness). Students that miss two consecutive workshops/rehearsals will be warned, and asked to leave the course if absenteeism persists (in fairness to other students). Due to scheduling conflicts/additional reharesals for the end-of-year production it is important that any participants in other drama courses discuss this with the course coordinator.

How much does it cost?

Tuition is $190 per student per term for a total of $760 per year for all four terms.
